The rapidly evolving cybersecurity industry is steered by the curiosity, creative problem-solving, and collaborative skills of its workforce. To prepare PreK to collegiate-level students for the emerging cybersecurity industry while also aligning instruction to national standards, educators are seeking increasingly innovative teaching solutions. This presentation addresses how SAE International’s A World In Motion® (AWIM) programs are meeting this need with research-based, hands-on engagements that cultivate the fundamental thought processes in computer programming and cyber defense. Each program, through age-appropriate experiences, is independently comprehensive yet part of a K-16 continuum of STEM programs. From SAE’s Programming Each Other Challenge at the elementary level to Cybersecurity: Keeping Our Networks Secure at the middle school level to the AutoDrive Challenge™ at the collegiate level, the support of industry partners like General Motors allows underrepresented school communities all around the United States prepare for career pathways of the future.
